Join us for Queer Hike San Diego's fifth group hike!
We will be hiking in Los Peñasquitos Canyon. We tried to come to hike here a couple of months ago, but it had rained beforehand and the trails get too muddy. The preserve was closed. But there will still be water flowing, and wildflowers blooming- so let's go!
We will be meeting on the trailhead that is on Camino del Sur, on the west side of Peñasquitos Creek Park (a city park). There should be plenty of parking. The exact coordinates of our meetup are: 32°56'23.1"N 117°09'08.7"W
Our route isn't on AllTrails, but it will be approximately 4 miles round trip. This is a canyon, and it's relatively flat. There shouldn't be much elevation gain at all. It's a nice leisurely stroll.
- Wear proper shoes with grip and/or ankle support
- Dress comfortably and bring layers for weather
- Bring water and snacks for yourself/to share
- Safety is a priority! Let us know if you have any health concerns. However, there are inherent risks to hiking so we cannot be held liable for any potential injury
- Leave No Trace! Pack it in, pack it out. Leave only footprints, take only pictures.
- Parking may be limited on a weekend, so try to arrive early to get a space
- Bring a bag/backpack for your things. It's a good idea to read about the recommended "10 Essentials" for hiking. They can be found here: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/ten-essentials.html
- If you have trekking poles, bring them! They can help with the uphill and downhill sections
